PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson passed his physical Monday and practiced for the first time since being diagnosed with Crohns disease last December.Henderson, who spent the first three weeks of training camp on the active/non-football illness list, participated in 11-on-11 drills in Mondays practice. Incumbent starter Jordan Mills continued to take the majority of first-team reps at right tackle despite Hendersons return. As of right now, Ive been out for a while, so its all about competing right now, Henderson said after practice. Whatever the outcome is, thats what the outcome is. Of course I would love to start. Jordan has it right now. Thats my teammate. I wish the best for him and I wish the best for me.Henderson missed the final five games of last season after experiencing symptoms of Crohns disease, an inflammatory condition that affects the digestive system. Doctors made the diagnosis when Henderson was hospitalized in Philadelphia prior to the Bills loss to the Eagles last December. The third-year tackle told The Palm Beach Post last week that he underwent surgery in January to remove 2? feet of his intestines, resulting in him losing nearly 50 pounds and having to wear an ileostomy bag until his intestines were reattached April.I was weak, Henderson, who played at the University of Miami, told the newspaper. At first I couldnt stand up on my own. I felt so weak. It was terrible. I didnt like it at all. I kept walking and walking around the hospital.Hendersons weight dropped to 281 following the surgery, but he said Monday that he has only 5 to 10 pounds to gain to return to his playing weight of 330 pounds. He also has a strict diet that prevents him from eating gluten or certain vegetables.Early on, I had some doubts. I didnt know exactly what the future had set for me, Henderson told reporters Monday. I just kept doing everything that the doctor said. Eating right, and I just kept moving forward to get back on the field. The Bills seventh-round pick in 2014, Henderson started 16 games as a rookie and began last season as the Bills starting right tackle before his symptoms prevented him from playing in December. He threw just 92 crisp pitches and breezed against the hapless Braves in his longest outing of the season in any level of baseball. He became the first Phillies pitcher since Mike Williams in July 1992 to toss a complete game for his first win and hes the first Phillies rookie to throw a complete game since Vance Worley in July 2011.Its something you cant really describe, just being around these guys, Eflin said.Eflin went deep in the game and the Phillies went deep at the plate.Maikel Franco homered for the third straight game, and the Phillies hit four overall. Peter Bourjos, Cody Asche and Tommy Joseph all hit solo shots for the Phillies.Eflin had some help from a generally punchless offense that has shown signs of coming around headed into the All-Star break. The Phillies have scored at least seven runs in three straight games and have won seven of eight overall.I think everybody puts together good at-bats and that puts pressure on the pitcher to make his pitches, Bourjos said. He threw some pitches over the plate and we hit some home runs.ddddddddddddSimple enough.Bourjos extended his hitting streak to 14 games and opened the home run derby with his fourth of the season in the first inning against Mike Foltynewicz (2-3).
